Steve Cowan is the Complex General Manager of the Hilton San Francisco, a 1919-room property with 134,000 square feet of meeting space, and the Parc 55 Hilton Hotel, a 1024-room property with 30,000 square feet of meeting space . As such, he is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility and overseeing the sales strategy for the property's immediate and long-term success.
Prior to this, Steve served as the General Manager of the Washington Hilton for six years. The landmark hotel has been host to numerous high profile events including the White House Correspondents Dinner and National Prayer Breakfast. While there, he oversaw the recently completed two-year $150 million hotel restoration. From 2006 to 2009 Steve held the position of Complex General Manager for both the DoubleTree and Embassy Suites hotels in Arlington, Virginia following a promotion from Resident Manager at Washington Hilton. Prior to that, Steve was general manager of DoubleTree Guest Suites in Atlanta. Before joining the Hilton Worldwide family he held GM positions with Berkeley Hotels located in Portland and Brunswick, Maine. Steve got his start in hospitality as director of purchasing at Sheraton White Mountain Resort in North Conway, New Hampshire. He attended the University of Maine where he studied Business Administration and has served on several industry-related boards including as Vice Chair of the Hotel Association of Washington DC and current board member and former convention committee co-chair of Destination DC. Steve is a private pilot and enjoys classic auto restoration.
