The loading dock at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square faces towards a city street – Ellis Street. There are two bays in the dock and only one is large enough to handle bobtail trucks or tractor trailer rigs. Tractor trailer rigs of 53 feet in length may have trouble getting into the large bay if they are low slung. The smaller bay is able to accommodate box trucks, vans, and standard-sized delivery trucks. The loading dock is fairly small, so large crates cannot be stored and may be refused if the dock is full.
The Hilton San Francisco Union Square is a signatory to a collective bargaining agreement, so any and all union regulations must be observed with the loading and unloading of any large loads and/or vehicles.
Smaller parcels sent via overnight services are received by Package Express at the loading dock. The Package Express staff organizes received items alphabetically by the last name of the recipient. You may reach the Package Express staff by calling 415.771.1400, extension 6211.
Scheduling Dock Time
It is essential that any person needing access to the loading dock contact the Loading Dock Manager and schedule appropriate dock time. The Loading Dock Manager may be reached at 415.202.7722.
When requesting loading dock time, the Loading Dock Manager would like to know the following minimum information:
Date and time needed in the dock for load-in/load-out
Number of and the size of trucks
Name and phone number of person making the arrangements
Name and phone number of person driving the truck
(especially when the driver is coming cross-country and weather is a factor)
Special Sunday Conditions
The City allows persons attending services at Glide Memorial Church to double park on Ellis Street from 8:30am to 1:00pm. Tractor trailer rigs do not have enough space to back in and out of the dock. For major shows, advance planning and scheduling must take this into account.
